Ask a Professional

Hey!,
Mike here, hope your doing great.

I had a bit of a scary situation early Monday morning. I'm not even sure what time it was but it was very early when the phone rang. It was my Mom. Mother is friendly and does like a chat, but i new she wasn't calling for a chat. Now, some of you may know that my Dad unfortunately had 2 minor strokes late last year and has been recovering ever since. So when i answered and mom said "It's your Dad" my heart jumped! she quickly said "he's called, and he's not feeling great" which made me feel a little relieved that the worst hadn't happened.

Dad last week with my two cubs.
I got dressed and left quickly and went down to see him. When i was driving i was praying, "I'm sure all will be well". When i arrived, He wasn't good, but i did my best to make him feel comfortable. After going though some checks
(check out stroke awareness here=>>Act Fast) to see his movement and level of awareness he started to feel better. So i decided not to call the emergency services. I then made him a tea (the world is always a better place with a cup of tea!) and he began to liven up. I then called the local surgery and checked out the website to see if there was anything else i could or should have been doing. I'm pleased to say after speaking with my Dad today he is feeling much better.

The whole incident got me thinking about the importance of the correct information and without it, how certain situations can turn into more serious situations. This is also true when doing any form of exercise. Now that Easter is out of the way, it's typically the time of year when folks begin to think about the holiday season and how they look with less clothes on or even naked! Many are not happy about the way they feel and look and moan and complain about it, while others take action.

For those who do take action, I'm all for taking action, but often they are not sure of the best way to eat healthily & exercise so they just do what they think is best. Whilst that may give some benefit, its not always the best way to go about feeling and looking your very best and may even be detrimental.

People want results fast. That's a fact. But without the right information and guidance, many people just get frustrated and give up. You may have even been in that situation yourself? We live in world today where if its not done or achieved today, its too late. If you want results and without wasting your time, working with professional personal trainer or exercise specialist will have you moving safely and quickly towards your said goals. Whilst getting fast results is not always the right way for everyone, information and advice from a professional will be the best way to safely and effectively reach your goals.

Looking and feeling great does not need to be hard, but without the right advice and information it can often seem like you're never making any progress.

My advice, whatever you are going to do as exercise whether, its, Pilates ,Yoga, swinging a Kettle bell (Look out for our fantastic new Kettle-bell classes coming your way-it's gonna be HUGE!) or just doing a charity run and you need some new footwear, seek professional help and get the right information of the best or better way to exercise, you'll be so glad you did!

Want to boost your mood? Exercise!

Hi there! Mike here, I hope you are all feeling great!

If you’re like me there will be certain times that you feel.... shall I say... a little crappy! You’ve had a bad week/day at work, you’re feeling neglected, everything seems to go wrong and it seems the whole world is against you. Want to feel great and enjoy better moods? Exercise! It’s better than any pill. Many different research studies have shown when you take a pill, any pill, there are potential negative side effects, but exercise creates endorphins with the side effect of happiness and feel good factor! Similar chemicals to those when your laugh, are released helping you to immediately feel much more positive and uplifted.

Exercise activity could include, cycling, swimming, dog walking, child walking (That means taking the kids to school on foot instead of the car, if practical ha ha!) or walking to the shops.
Whatever your choice, the important thing to remember is that to help keep a good mood or if you do find yourself in a bad mood, get out and do some exercise you’ll feel much better right away!

The other thing to remember is that Exercise doesn’t need to be hard or rigorous either to have benefits. I like to keep my workouts short and sweet, 30 minutes max when training alone or an hour of Yoga or Pilates class is enough for me to feel strong and like I've had a great workout!

You can check out Optimum Health pts classes here  >>>>>Boost your mood classes <<<<

Some people like to train for longer. The American college of sports medicine (A.C.S.M.) recommends a guideline or 3-5 days a week of 20-30 minutes exercise for health benefits. However, there are a growing number of reports that add weight to the argument that Exercise for a duration of 9 minutes a week(H.I.T. High intensity training) will offer health benefits! This kind of Exercise is hard, and for now I'm not going to go into the details of those reports here today; you'll also need to remember that there are some important factors when  doing H.I.T training, But the point I'm trying to make here is that the length of time you exercise is less of an issue. Focus is now on what you do when you exercise. Getting outdoor is another way to feel great and boost your mood, and if  you like to exercise outdoors, then you need to check out the premier outdoor fitness group exercise class OUTFIT.   <<<<< click here to find out more and book you free class!

Committing to do exercise does not mean sacrificing a large amount of your time. We all lead busy lives with plenty of things to keep us occupied. But if by keeping busy you find yourself feeling tired, grumpy or lacking in energy, You need to think seriously about redressing the balance and investing some time in your health & fitness. By doing this, you are going to notice a massive change, You'll feel more energised, more confident, more focused and your mood will lift and you'll feel more positive and happy!
Don't put off feeling great, get involved in some simple exercise to boost your mood and start to feel great!
