Exercise

Many people, when they start to try to get into shape or look to improve their Health & fitness, they start out with real purpose and determination.

They are really motivated to reach their goals and finally ‘attain’ and ‘maintain’ their ideal shape, weight or new healthy lifestyle.

But more often than not they never reach those goals or at least only see small improvements before they stop and give up.
Why is that?

In my experience it comes down to just a few mistakes. These mistakes are easily done and very common, avoiding them can make the world of difference.

This short video reveals the first one…

Hi there! Mike here, I hope you are all feeling great!

If you’re like me there will be certain times that you feel.... shall I say... a little crappy! You’ve had a bad week/day at work, you’re feeling neglected, everything seems to go wrong and it seems the whole world is against you. Want to feel great and enjoy better moods? Exercise! It’s better than any pill. Many different research studies have shown when you take a pill, any pill, there are potential negative side effects, but exercise creates endorphins with the side effect of happiness and feel good factor! Similar chemicals to those when your laugh, are released helping you to immediately feel much more positive and uplifted.

Exercise activity could include, cycling, swimming, dog walking, child walking (That means taking the kids to school on foot instead of the car, if practical ha ha!) or walking to the shops.
Whatever your choice, the important thing to remember is that to help keep a good mood or if you do find yourself in a bad mood, get out and do some exercise you’ll feel much better right away!

The other thing to remember is that Exercise doesn’t need to be hard or rigorous either to have benefits. I like to keep my workouts short and sweet, 30 minutes max when training alone or an hour of Yoga or Pilates class is enough for me to feel strong and like I've had a great workout!

Some people like to train for longer. The American college of sports medicine (A.C.S.M.) recommends a guideline or 3-5 days a week of 20-30 minutes exercise for health benefits. However, there are a growing number of reports that add weight to the argument that Exercise for a duration of 9 minutes a week(H.I.T. High intensity training) will offer health benefits! This kind of exercise is hard, and for now I'm not going to go into the details of those reports here today (you'll also need to remember that there are some important factors when doing H.I.T training) however the point I'm trying to make here is that the length of time you exercise is less of an issue. Focus is now on what you do when you exercise. Getting outdoors is another way to feel great and boost your mood, and if you like to exercise outdoors, then you need to check out the premier outdoor fitness group exercise class OUTFIT.   <<<<< click here to find out more and book you free class!

Committing to do exercise does not mean sacrificing a large amount of your time. We all lead busy lives with plenty of things to keep us occupied. But if by keeping busy you find yourself feeling tired, grumpy or lacking in energy, you need to think seriously about redressing the balance and investing some time in your health & fitness. By doing this, you are going to notice a massive change... you'll feel more energised, more confident, more focused and your mood will lift and you'll feel more positive and happy
Don't put off feeling great, get involved in some simple exercises to boost your mood and start to feel great!

Committed to your health
Mike

Hey, How you doing? I hope this email finds you in the best of health.
As some of you may know it was my birthday recently, so it was only right i went out and celebrated the fact that I'm one year closer to 40! ( I know i only look 27!) So in good tradition me and my good friend Jack (surname Daniels) had a good night out in Leeds along with a few others. It was a fun night but i made sure i took my own advice and drunk in moderation. If you didn't read that last post click here to find out the best way to enjoy alcohol. I was fortunate enough to receive some nice little gifts,  including my moms home made cake and some well wishes from my eldest son.
I must say i felt blessed and lucky to have some wonderful people in my life!
It got me thinking about giving and receiving and  how good it felt. I'm not sure about you, but i love it when i give a gift to someone and they are please with your gesture; it gives me a good feeling (I'm gonna do it more often!) Giving is a good thing and if you don't do it i suggest you try it, it will go a long way to help you feel good!

So it came to me that one of the best ways you can give is to give to  CHARITY. Here at Optimum Health pts our nominated charity is Martin House Children's hospice; a local charity dedicated to children and young people who unfortunately have conditions that shorten their life expectancy. As a father of two i know how precious children are so i think it's a worthy cause. As a registered charity, Martin house will gain a number of allocated slots for fund raising events throughout the year and guess what? you've guest it, we are looking to participate in a few of them. They range from rowing events, skydiving (I may give it a go) coast to coast walks and cycles rides. But everyones favorite is a good old fun run!
Now if you're like me running for any longer than 30 minutes isn't top of my fun things to do list, but i do enjoy a run from time to time. We would like to get an team together to run in this years Leeds 10k in June and help raise money and awareness for Martin House. So we are launching the Optimum Health pts running club! So if you fancy joining our team and raising money and awareness for a noble cause, get in touch! The running club will start on a Monday evening ( the first run will be the 4th of April at 18.30) and don't worry if you never run a distance event before we'll be getting the best tips and advice from the experts at Leeds up & Running stores. These guys are the very best when it comes to expert advice on footwear and anything running. If you need some new running gear, check them out!
Running can be a fun and rewarding way to get fit or to loose a few pounds but too many people rely solely on this type of 'steady state' exercise to achieve their goals- unfortunately its a flawed approach.Don't be fooled into thinking that you have to run for hours on end to get fit or loose weight because you don't! The best way to get fit and achieve your goals is to work with a Personal trainer or an exercise coach who will guide you, motivate you and help keep you focussed on your goals is the best way to improve your health & fitness and that doesn't only mean working one to one either! Group exercise has always been a popular form of exercise. So consider it as an option  if you are looking to improve your fitness. Outfit-uk offer some of the best outdoor group exercise classes going, one of which i run with my friend Dan at Roundhay park in Leeds. Click here to find out more about joining this fantastic class! As with personal training these classes focus on correct exercise technique, working with and against gravity, and also using KETTLE BELLS. Its a fun way to get fit have fun and mingle with some super people.

Don't forget our Optimum Health pts 'OPT week fat flush' too! this is another way you can keep fit and kick start your weight loss goals. And at a cost of only £70 for 5 weeks, it has to be the bargain of the year!!  If you want more info just send me an email or call the studio on 0113 2612050.
