Hey, Mike here. I hope you are well and enjoying being Fit & Healthy!

As promised, i'v got some more information for you on the alcohol we love and enjoy. Having a better understanding of alcohol and your relationship with alcohol can help you making smarter choice when it comes to our alcohol consumption. Knowing the volume level of your typical drink and what your recommended intake  will all help you to keep your health level up and not to fall into the habit of drinking too much alcohol. In part 1 we discussed the good and bad points of  alcohol. Your goal should be to feel and look your healthy best, and by drinking the right amount of alcohol it will be easy to achieve.

1.Eat well
It is true and not a myth, but eating before you drink or whilst drinking will determine what sort of effect the alcohol will have on you. If eating whilst drinking, it will slow down the rate at which you drink. Also, eating before drinking will slow down the rate at which your body absorbs alcohol.Consuming Protein and food with 'good fats' are seen to be better. So if you are wanting to last the night and avoid being drunk; think about eating before hand.

                                                          2. What type of drinker are you?
It is said that there are certain types of categories of drinkers or drinking. What type are you? If you know what sort of drinking habits you have it can help with your weekly or monthly consumption.
a) Hazardous drinker. Consuming more than 3 units a day( for women) 4 units a day for men without major issue
b)Binge drinker. Consuming large amounts in a short period of time. (within 4-6 hours). on a regular basis.
c)Harmful drinker. Consuming more than 3-4 units a day and have experienced problems with your health, at work or at home or even with the police.
d)Dependant drinking. Consuming more than 3-4 units a day and would find it hard to cut down or feel unhappy or depressed with that amount of drink. e)Moderate or Sensible drinker. Consuming less than 3-4 units when drinking and have 3-4 days a week alcohol free. If you fall in any of the categories a -d, you may wan to review your alcohol consumption as these amounts maybe having a negative impact on your health.

3. Measure Up
Most of us like a drink at home, but often our home measures are much bigger than what we would get when we went out. Invest in some optics or standard measures. This will help make sure you are drinking standard amounts in c your glass. You could also get or use  smaller wine glasses. So if  you want to have 2 glasses of wine have 2 small glasses. It will make a useful difference.

4.Buy Less
By simply having less alcohol at home you will be putting yourself in a position where you will not be able to potentially drink more than you should. Many of us like to have a bottle of wine or two (or five of six) at home just in case we are entertaining or just to have with our meals. Think about reducing the amount you have in your wine rack and it will help reduce the temptation.

5.Enjoy yourself
It was mentioned in part 1. that often we drink because it helps us to feel a certain way, maybe because we don't feel great about certain things or situations. But learning to enjoy yourself will go a long way to managing your weekly/ monthly alcohol consumption. Taking up a  hobby or an activity will help you feel better about you. Exercising, taking up a hobby like music or photography are good ways to be creative and help pass any free time you may have, thus minimizing the risk of drinking your time away.
Also think about pampering yourself. This may include some good old fashioned retail therapy or going for some beauty treatments. (we have some exciting news coming soon about beauty therapy so keep tuned in!) This is a great way to help feel better about yourself and to stop passing your time away by drinking to much. Alcohol is a large part of  modern western culture and society and is a topic which provokes lots debate. Remember it is best to enjoy alcohol in small moderation. By doing this you will find it much easier to keep fit healthy and strong.

Best of Health.
